Low-noise detectors

The response to the test charge-pulses of known values. The noise has been measured by fitting of Gaussian functions. The noise floor is about 2e. The additional signal-dependent noise nearly depends as the square root of the number of electrons in the input signal.

The development of the low noise sensors have been conducted within the ViroQuant project. The goal was the design of a pixel arrays for the cell- and the gene studies. We have designed a test sensor in 180nm technology with a noise of 2 electrons at the room temperature.
